Pure formulations / 25 classes of ingredients excluded

Our products are free of ingredients known to be potentially allergenic and which could activate an inflammatory phase. Based on  the European Standard Battery of allergens most frequently responsible for allergic dermatitis, we have excluded more than 25 products/class of ingredients from our formulas. None of our products contains the following ingredients: 

High purity ingredients

We use superior quality ingredients regarding their purity because the impurities in raw materials can also lead to irritation or allergy. We also exclude mixture of ingredients and natural extracts, because those may contain protein residue that could lead to sensitisation phase and then allergies. 

Consistency of formulas

All the  PURATOPIX products are composed of the same ingredients, which we have combined in our different formulas. . 

Thanks to this consistency, you can switch from of PURATOPIX product to another, without risk of intolerance.

Controlled pH and adapted to target skin types

Healthy skin has an acid pH of around 5, but atopy prone skin will generally have a higher pH. PURATOPIX products have a buffer system so maintain an acid pH, which is essential for the skin barrier to function properly and to avoid superfinfections.  An acidic skin environment is necessary to :

• activate the enzymes involved in ceramide formation;
• increase the cohesion of the barrier through its effect on corneocytes; 
• activate the production of ‘Natural Moisturising Factors’ (NMF); activer la production de « facteurs naturels d’hydratation naturels » (NMF) ;
• prevent imbalance in the skin flora (microbiome) (dysbiosis) and therefore the risk of superinfection.

A skin barrier with a neutral (7) or basic (>7) pH will take longer to restore itself. It is therefore essential that people with very dry, irritable and eczema prone skin avoid products with a neutral or basic pH. By helping to maintain an acidic environment, the PURATOPIX products will help to rebalance the skin microbiome and restore the skin barrier more quickly.

Based on skin physiology 

Our moisturisers : Our water-free Cerat and Oil S.A.S. are concentrated in active ingredients, based on triglycerides, squalane, cholesterol and Natural Moisturising Factors (NMF) (sodium PCA, lacates and glycerine). 

Thanks to this unique composition, which is very close to the composition of human sebum, our products replicate the hydrolipidic film. The hydrolipidic film is an emulsion that forms naturally on the surface of the epidermis thanks to sweat and water from the dermis. The sebum and the cholesterol in sebum play the role of natural emulsifiers. Like the sebum, our products will emulsify on the skin's surface and reform the protective, regulating barrier that is the hydrolipidic film. Natural Moisturising Factors (NMF) will help to retain water in the skin and reinforce the moisturising properties of the formulations.

Our water-free formulas don't require any preservatives and are concentratedin active ingredients. The sole purpose of water in skincare products is to reduce production costs and make products more pleasant or easier to formulate. What's more, the presence of water is a major risk factor for microbial contamination, so it must always be accompanied by powerful preservatives.

Our cleansers : Our Foam and our Surgras are rinse-off products whose main goal is to gently clean the skin. Thans to a buffer system and a mild surfactant (identical in both formulas), we developped cleanser with a pH 5 that are gentle on the skin barrier and adapted to the microbiome (skin flora) of atopy prone skin. Squalane, polysynlane and sulfofatty acide esters give extra nourishing and protective properties to this gentle cleanser.

 

Scientifically documented active ingredients 

For our protective skin care products, we worked with a unique combination of active ingredients that are naturally in our skin . These active ingredients are : 

 Cholesterol: an emulsifier naturally found in the stratum corneum.​

Squalane: a compound naturally found in the epidermis. We have chosen to work with squalane, a saturated form of squalene, to avoid having to add anti-oxidants to our formulas.

Lactates and PCA: naturally occuring hydratation factors to keep water in the epidermis.​

Tristearin: a triglyceride found in abundance in animal fats which replicates the function of natural triglycerides. ​

For our cleansers, we worked on the combination of a gentle, highly purified surfactant and a buffer system. The term ‘buffer’ refers to substances which, maintain the solution they are in at a relatively constant pH and help to regulate the acid-base balance. Many products are acidified by the addition of an acid, such as citric acid, but most products are not buffered. Without a buffering system, the pH of the product is likely to be unstable, particularly on contact with the skin.
